The space above the door, the ends of cabinets and the kitchen corner - we figure out what other places can be allocated for useful storage in a small apartment.
1. On the mezzanine
Mezzanines are not a relic of the past, but a completely modern practical solution if used correctly. In this example, such a storage method was foreseen in advance and a special structure was installed. Doors were abandoned: with the help of stylish boxes, trunks, baskets, it will be possible to avoid visual noise and with open storage. Under the mezzanine, a cozy recreation area with an armchair and a table was designed, above which spotlights were built in.
2. By the window
In the work area of this office, on both sides of the table-window sill, the designer designed spacious cabinets. But in order to organize additional storage space, the end of one of them was set aside for open storage. This "rack" becomes a kind of continuation of the window slope - a great idea for a small space. It is very convenient to store books, textbooks and other supplies for work or study on such shelves. And there is no need to additionally drill the walls to install the shelves. At the same time, when entering the room, their contents are barely visible, since they "look" into the work area.
3. In the shelf behind the bed
There are many unusual features in this project: for example, the bedroom is located on the mezzanine floor. Therefore, it was necessary to design appropriate storage systems. Part of the space behind the bed was left empty - an open shelving unit was placed there. In the sections hidden behind the headboard, you can store things that are not needed very often, and in the open ones - books and decor. The part that protrudes from the side can serve as a bedside table. If your apartment is short on space, this is an excellent functional solution for how to play up the area behind the bed.
4. In the kitchen corner
If you have a very small area at your disposal, choose furniture that combines several functions. For example, in the dining area in the photo, a kitchen corner was made. Its entire lower space is allocated for storage with drawers, as they provide the fastest and most convenient access to things. Here you can store everything related to the kitchen: towels, tablecloths, frying pans and pots, dishes for special occasions, as well as food supplies.
5. On high open shelves
The trend for open shelves is gaining ground: many people have come to like this decorative technique and it is now actively used. However, such open storage can be used not only for aesthetics but also for practical purposes. In the living room in the photo, several shelves were hung in a row above the sofa. However, the apartment has one room, so the owner decided not to give up valuable space just for decor and placed boxes and baskets with various things here. To avoid a feeling of oppression, the shelves were hung as high as possible, almost to the ceiling.
Important: if you plan to store not light small items on such shelves, but books or things in boxes, be sure to strengthen the structure. For example, with special corners, as they did here.
6. At the end of the headset
The outer section of the kitchen unit can be divided into two parts inside. One is the main cabinet. The other is a mini-rack with shelves at the end. This is the section that was made in the example in the photo. Books were placed on the shelves. But this space can also be allocated for other categories of items: for example, beautiful dishes, pots, or decanted groceries.
