Primula, lobelia, hosta, and other beautiful garden plants that do not require bright sunlight and are suitable for planting in the shade.
1. Lobelia
A beautiful annual with a lush cap of blue or purple inflorescences that blooms from May to September. This is a low-growing plant, reaching a height of 10-20 cm, so you can plant it next to larger flowers or bushes. It does not like bright light, the ideal conditions for lobelia are partial shade with moderate diffused lighting during the day. It is often used to decorate the borders of garden paths, including in shady areas.
2. Hosta
One of the most popular non-flowering plants among gardeners when it comes to filling shady areas. Hosta is easy to care for, actively grows without additional stimulation, and feels great with minimal lighting. The only requirements are regular watering and no drafts. The plant's juicy, dense leaves become an excellent background for other plants - but you can also plant it yourself: for example, behind the house.
3. Pulmonaria
Lungwort is a wild plant, which means it does not require complex care and is undemanding to conditions. Moreover, it feels comfortable even in the darkest parts of the garden, where it is impossible to grow other flowers normally, and in bright sunlight, on the contrary, it fades, and the buds lose their brightness. In suitable conditions, they are a rich blue or pinkish hue, and the color can change - this unique property of the plant makes it more attractive for pollination.
4. Lupine
Despite the fact that most varieties of lupine come from warm countries, it feels great in our latitudes. Both annual and perennial varieties are planted in the garden. They all love the sun but feel quite good in the shade, so they are often placed along the fence or behind the house. The plant is not only beautiful but also hardy: it will survive any weather conditions and rare irregular watering.
5. Aquilegia
A spreading bush with a scattering of bright inflorescences prefers partial shade and moist soil, so it can be planted in lowlands, near a fence, or behind a house. It is undemanding in care, but regular watering and periodic fertilizing will provide it with beautiful and abundant flowering. The plant is not tall, so it is often planted around trees or along garden paths to add brightness to the lawn.
6. Digitalis
Externally, foxglove resembles a bell, but despite the similarity, these are different plants. It blooms beautifully and abundantly, most often the buds have a pinkish hue, but can also be white, lilac, purple, and cream. The flower can be grown both in a sunny meadow and in the shade. Just remember that it grows to the subway - there should be no "neighbors" nearby that interfere. Also keep in mind that foxglove is poisonous, so you should not plant it where children or pets can reach it.
7. Primula
A charming low plant with a scattering of small flowers of different shades. Primrose prefers shade or partial shade, it is not advisable to plant it in the sun. It feels great in a flowerbed near a house or fence, and also surrounded by taller flowers or bushes. It is comfortable to grow in their shade, and due to its low growth, the plant will not interfere with others. Also, keep in mind that primrose needs moist soil, so it is best to plant it in a lowland where water will accumulate.
