Designer Alexey Aladashvili designed a weekend apartment for a family. The owners wanted a comfortable space for rest, recharging, and meeting with friends.
The combination of two initially one-room apartments and the addition of a loggia allowed the area to be increased to 85 square meters. The apartment windows are located on the 15th floor, offering views of the city center, the river and the Cathedral.
Alexey's clients are a family with two children. The new layout allowed them to form a kitchen-living room, two bedrooms, a combined bathroom, and a laundry block. The furniture was raised to a podium in the kitchen-living room, and the soft zone was placed in a niche. The island can be approached from all sides, which makes it a convenient space for free communication. The kitchen cabinets are built into the niche and protrude from it by 20 centimeters, due to which the heavy volumes look visually lighter: some of them rest on the podium, others "float" above the floor.
The main background of the apartment is white. Quartz vinyl was used for the floor finishing in two versions. In the hallway, the designer opted for a wood texture, where the material from the floor goes onto the walls and interior doors, making them as invisible as possible in the overall volume. The doors to the bedrooms are hidden behind mirror panels. Thus, the private zone is completely invisible from the public one, and the sunlight, reflecting, penetrates deep into the apartment.
The podium is covered with quartz vinyl with a cement texture. Barn boards appeared on the accent walls in the dining room and living room. This solution added texture to the interior. Light shades soften the complexity of the geometry, dark ones emphasize the functional zones, creating additional depth.
