Carpets in the interior: 5 main trends of 2024

Design fashion changes, and keeping up with it is not so easy. However, if desired, it is almost always possible to reflect current trends in the living space: often it is enough to stylize the interior with the help of decor and textiles. The right rug is one of the simplest and at the same time effective ways to set a new mood for your home. The Aesthete editorial team analyzed carpet trends of 2024 in the design industry and prepared a selection of carpets that perfectly match them.

Monochrome and duochrome

Monochrome interiors were at the peak of popularity in past seasons, but they remain in demand now. Modern man, surrounded by visual noise every day, needs an oasis of calm monochromatic color combinations at home. The requirements for a monochrome interior are softened: shades should envelop, so in one space you can combine several tones of one or two colors, smoothly flowing into each other. Textures begin to play a special role: they give monochrome interiors a feeling of comfort, volume and depth.

CHRISTOPHER GUY models are suitable for decorating such a calm interior. The texture echoes dozens of reliefs at the same time, giving rise to image after image, and the natural color palette completes the idea and is suitable for any style: from restrained minimalism to extravagant art deco or luxurious neoclassicism. Another collection worth taking a closer look at is called BLANC DE BLANCS: it uses white throughout the spectrum. The light monochrome palette allows you to emphasize the texture of models made from the most valuable natural materials.

Understated elegance

Bring together modernity, avant-garde and classics - and get a homage to a specific era in a new interpretation: at Milan Design Week we saw many such experiments. An eclectic mix of objects and decorations from different eras and styles without excessive pretentiousness and abundance of details - the secret of timeless elegance lies in the purity of lines.

The Russel Square collection fully lives up to its name: the carpets are distinguished by a stylish English design, combining current colors with laconic graphic patterns. The products look voluminous due to the combination of matte wool textures and smooth shiny art silk.

Return to roots

Ethnics in one form or another are found in installations and projects from year to year: we all probably sometimes need to return to our roots, archaic patterns and centuries-old traditions. This also confirms the desire of many modern designers to create objects inspired by the culture of their native countries.

If you want to add ethnic motifs to your interior, consider purchasing a carpet with a national pattern. Bidjar is an ancient Persian rug design that is famous throughout the world. Its origins are in the city of the same name in western Iran, where original handmade carpets from natural wool have been woven since ancient times. These masterpieces have gained worldwide fame thanks to the unsurpassed quality of materials, especially the dense weaving and rich colorful patterns that have become their calling card.

All shades of red

At Milan Design Week, red became one of the dominant accent shades: brands such as Zanotta, Diesel Living, Philippe Hurel used it at their stands. Decor and textiles in fiery, cherry and burgundy tones are the choice of brave connoisseurs of extravagant design. If you are one of them, pay attention to the Iranian carpet LORIBAFT-KASHKOULI with a traditional landscape plot. It can also be used as a large-scale textile panel - this is another trend that is gaining momentum.

For those who are not yet ready for rich, bright colors, the Indian REX RAY carpet with a phantasmagoric floral motif is suitable. It also uses shades of red but in a very delicate muted variation.

Organic forms

Organic design is not losing ground: streamlined, rounded shapes have remained in trend for many seasons now. Cushion-shaped sofas, armchairs resembling water-worn boulders, handmade ceramics with whimsical silhouettes are all different manifestations of this trend.

The trend also applies to carpets: for example, the KUMO model will help soften the perception of living space. It is inspired by clouds, one of the most popular motifs in Japanese painting. Thanks to the multi-level cutting of the pile, it is possible to convey the effect of a print on paper with its contrasting contours, and due to the combination of dense wool and light shiny eucalyptus silk, gradients of tones are obtained.
