Contemporary architecture and timeless interiors are the recognizable signature of Fedorova Architects. This residence serves as an excellent illustration, although it stands out in the portfolio: when designing the house, the architects did not know who would live in it.
“The client-developer was building real estate for sale, so we were looking for a middle ground. We were thinking: what could a wealthy family with children like? — says the head of the bureau, Alexandra Fedorova. — At first the client wanted a brighter, catchier image, but we reoriented it to a calm and restrained one. In the end, he liked it."
The scope of the project is impressive: the main building alone has an area of 2500 square meters. Nearby there is a staff house and a garage. It is important to note the unprecedented deadlines set by the customer: the building with the most complex filling, from the foundation pit to the curtains on the windows, was completed within a year. The bedrooms, including children's, are designed as suites, each with its own dressing room and bathroom. There are 12 bathrooms on three floors. There is a swimming pool, hammam and sauna, gym, beauty salon, cinema, playroom for children...
“The basis of a comfortable life is planning,” emphasizes Alexandra Fedorova. “And the main thing in it is the correct logistics: it is necessary to separate the lives of the owners and staff, of whom there are expected to be a lot in such a house. A separate entrance, its own staircase, and an auxiliary kitchen make everyday processes invisible.”
The materials on the facade and inside are exclusively natural: Portuguese limestone, granite, and marble; Only in the utility rooms and the pool bowl do porcelain tiles appear. The tree is predominantly oak. “This breed has a calm pattern, unlike, for example, a walnut. We focused not on finishing, but on the interaction of volumes and shapes.”
Almost all the furniture is from the best Italian brands. “The customer clearly understood that the people who would buy this house know the value of designer furniture. These factories have a history, impeccable reputation, beauty, quality, and style. New trends place an emphasis on environmental friendliness; customers are increasingly interested in what kind of varnish the wood is coated with, and whether recycled raw materials are used or not. Today there is no greater luxury than being closer to nature.”
