Co-founder of the American fashion brand Marchesa, Keren Craig, spent 14 years renovating this barn in the New York village of Accord. A nice two-story house on a plot of just over 2.5 hectares is up for sale by Four Seasons Sotheby's International Realty for $2.875 million.
A 1920s barn in Rondout Valley has been transformed into five bedrooms. Accord, and all of Ulster County, is a predominantly agricultural area located just two hours from New York City, and is an ideal destination for those looking for a relaxing weekend getaway.
Craig said when she and her husband, Pierce North, first saw the rustic barn, it was in disrepair. The first floor of the house was converted into functional rooms, decorated with high-quality materials and custom-made furniture installed, for example, an aristocratic-looking kitchen with a pantry. The cozy living room is decorated in a rustic style with a wood-burning fireplace. Four guest bedrooms are located in the rear wing of the house.
On the second floor there is a huge bright space, freely divided by furniture into a library, a training area and an entertainment area. Tall windows and French stained glass offer beautiful views of the fields and surrounding area. The private master area is located in the newly built south wing - there is a living room, all the closets a fashion designer needs and a full bathroom with a hot tub trimmed with dark green zellige tiles. The property also features a secluded patio with an outdoor shower and cold-soaking tub.
