The Belgian manufacturer Domani creates ceramics that reflect the experience and passion of its craftsmen. The Antwerp-based company, founded by Bart Bauweraerts, Gino Van Den Breen, and Pieter Leemans in 1992, has its own production facility in the Hungarian city of Pécs, which has a long tradition of production.
The Muda collection, designed for Domani by Vincent van Duysen, is inspired by Japanese traditions and celebrates the art of eliminating the unnecessary, the superfluous, where every form is thought out and verified.
Raku, a Japanese ceramic technique with a history of several centuries, gives the pieces a special depth. Each piece is transformed by the firing process, during which the flames of the kiln interact with the surface, leaving a palette of smoky shades from deep charcoal to soft dark gray. During the firing, fragments may also appear on it, giving the pieces a mysterious shine. The pure coating, without decoration and glaze, allows you to see the beauty of the material itself.
“For me, design is about evoking emotions and creating interpretations, drawing from the well of memories. I rely on my instincts, allowing intuition to shape the story of each creation,” says van Duysen. This philosophy is embodied in the Muda collection, where each planter is a study in form. Serene and impeccably simple, they are nevertheless an eye-catcher.
