You can plant flowers in the garden not only in spring but also in the middle of summer. We tell you which varieties are in season.
1. Calendula
One of the best plants for summer planting. Not only does it decorate the garden with bright orange and yellow flowers, but it also has useful anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Calendula is unpretentious, and resistant to diseases and pests. Prefers sunny places and loose, well-drained soil. It needs regular watering, especially during dry periods, and periodic loosening of the soil. Calendula tolerates slight cold spells well and blooms until late autumn. And its smell repels pests, so the plant can be planted next to vegetable crops.
2. Phloxes
These perennials are loved for their long flowering and their benefits for the garden: they attract bees and butterflies. They can be planted both in a sunny area and in partial shade. Be sure to maintain moderate humidity, avoiding both drying out of the soil and stagnant water. Before planting, it is advisable to fertilize the soil with compost or humus. Seedlings or seeds are planted at a distance of 30-40 cm from each other so that the phloxes grow freely and do not interfere with each other. Care includes regular watering, periodic weeding, and loosening of the soil.
3. Leucanthemum
Garden daisy. It feels best in a sunny place in well-drained soil. In July, you can collect seeds from faded plants and plant them. It is advisable to sprinkle the soil with a thin layer of humus or peat for better germination. The care of the chamomile is standard: moderate watering, and regular loosening of the soil. The flower does not require any special conditions.
4. Rudbeckia
The bright perennial is famous for its large red, orange, or yellow inflorescences up to 8-12 cm in diameter. Rudbeckia prefers sunny glades, so choose the most illuminated area in the garden for it. After planting, the flower must be watered regularly, especially during periods of drought. Otherwise, rudbeckia does not require complex care: it is enough to periodically loosen the soil and remove weeds in time. To ensure that the plant blooms abundantly, you can feed it with mineral fertilizers.
5. Delphinium
Delphinium grows up to 1.5 meters, high elongated inflorescences resemble large candles and immediately attract attention. The flower needs drained soil, but it is undemanding to lighting: both a sunny and shaded area will do. Like other plants on this list, it is quite unpretentious in terms of care. The most important thing is to water it on time, but without overflowing, and mulch the soil. Also regularly inspect the flower for pests: snails and garden aphids love it .
6. Periwinkle
This perennial plant is famous for its shiny, leathery leaves and bright buds of blue, purple, or white. Periwinkle prefers partial shade and well-drained soil. It is drought-resistant, but on hot summer days, it is better to water it more often. It is also necessary to regularly remove weeds around it. Before planting in July, it is advisable to add compost or humus to the soil. Periwinkle is resistant to pests and diseases, which makes it an ideal candidate for a "lazy garden" .
